Missions Update

It’s been awhile since I’ve said anything about our future missions plans, so I figure it’s time for an update.  A few things have changed in the past several months.

I’ve spent alot of time on here telling you about the Philippines, especially after we visited there last year to get a feel for the ministry.  We absolutely fell in love with it.  After we came home, we prayed and asked God to be very clear to us as to whether that was where we were supposed to go.  If it wasn’t, we asked Him to slam the door in our faces so that we would be certain that He was guiding us elsewhere.  While we were excited about the idea of serving in the Philippines, it was much more important for us to pursue God’s will.

Well, that’s kind of what happened… God shut that door for us firmly through events beyond our control, and in a fairly short amount of time.  We were understandably disappointed, but very thankful that God had answered our prayers so quickly.  Like we had asked, He gave us clear direction concerning the Philippines.  And even though it isnt the place where we’ll end up long-term, God has shown us lots of reasons why He sent us there for a short trip, and we are extremely thankful that we were able to go.

Since then, we have been looking into other ministries that God has led us to and praying constantly that He would lead us to wherever He wants us to serve.   This has been going on for months, and that’s where we are now…praying for discernment and that God would again clearly show us His will.  This is all just part of the process!

As of now, our timeline hasnt changed much.  Nate still has a year and a half of school left, so we’re still a few years out from packing up and moving anywhere.   And of course, whenever we get to the point that we feel certain that God is leading us in any specific direction, we will tell all of our friends, family & supporters so that they can be praying more specifically.  For now, though, we would really appreciate your prayers for this discernment process.

In the meantime, we’re just going to keep on trusting our faithful God and looking forward to an exciting future!
