“New house…new house…”

(You’re supposed to sing that and do a cute little dance when you say it… at least according to Jane Bradley, that’s how it goes!)

So, we are officially in the new house…as of July 24. Unfortunately, the internet was cut off on July 24th as well, so I havent been able to get online much.  We moved in on a Friday, then headed to the beach on the next Monday for a week. So really, we’ve only been in the house for a week.  We’re in the process of getting unpacked, but we still have a ways to go.  The living room is done. The master bedroom and the guest room just need artwork on the walls and curtains.  The office is a wreck – we havent even started it bc we’re still waiting on Nate’s new bookshelf to arrive.  (For some reason it takes 2 weeks for a bookshelf to go from Brookhaven to Madison). The kitchen is unpacked, but we still have a few things to do in there.  My uncle gave us his 1-year-old white appliances bc he switched his out for stainless.  Nate put in the new fridge, dishwasher, and range hood, but he has to do some remodeling to get the oven and range top in…which includes building a new cabinet base and putting in a new countertop so that the new stove will fit. Good thing he’s handy and can do all of that work himself!  I’m really excited about getting all of that finished bc it will make my kitchen look so much better!

As far as big stuff goes, I think the only other thing we might do is change out the flooring.  The house was built in 93, and I’m pretty sure that the carpet is original with the house.  And 4 small kids lived here before us.  Needless to say, it’s pretty worn and stained!  I’m not sure when we’ll get around to it though.

Other than that, we’re pretty much going to keep the house as-is.  I think new flooring and new appliances will definitely help us out when it’s time to sell it….but for now I’m just going to enjoy being in a house that’s NOT on the market!!
